Waitomo and Hobbiton in one day

They are the two things most first-time visitors want out of the Waikato, they are an hour and a quarter apart, and almost every itinerary tries to fit them into one day. It works. It works better in one direction than the other, and the difference is about an hour of standing around.

Can you do Waitomo and Hobbiton in one day?
